Martha Again…or Clean Your Lint Screen

28 09 2007

Remember those great calendars at the front of her magazine?  That was the first place I turned in every MS Living (just like I go the the celeb interview in Bon Appetite first.)  Month after month it was the same thought-does she do all of these random tasks so she has something to put on the calendar or is she naturally the type of person who plans to turn off her outdoor faucets on the 17th of November or clean her chandeliers on the 11th of December?

Umm, I just checked and in case you wondered, she does not schedule chandelier cleaning every December 11th.  I guess she can really mix it up.

And now to the point of all this rambling-cleaning out the lint screen on the back of my hair dryer was what reminded me of Martha’s calendars.  Of course, I then thought that maybe I should remind you to clean out your lint collectors too. :)

William Tell Overture for Moms

26 09 2007

Any one who is a mom or has a mom can relate to this one!  :)

Sorry all, but aparently this you tube video was taken down due to copyright infringement.

Aghhhhh, I can’t believe that I got caught in the middle of illegal video downloading!!!

I *heart* Huckabee

26 09 2007

I have long loved Mike Huckabee.  This admiration goes all the way back to when I saw him a couple of years ago on Letterman.  Since that time, I have gathered more highly beneficial data from places like the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.  I love him every time I see him.

Lest I forget, I also heard him shine on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me.  At the close of the interview all of the guests admitted that he was a program winner-definitely one of the better presidential candidates so far.  You can listen here…

So, I was delighted when I took this “favorite political candidate quiz” and scored Huckabee by a long shot…

Now take the quiz and let us know who you came up as a match with!

Everyone Needs a Network Admin Dad

26 09 2007

How great is it to need a new laptop and then-

my Dad builds the ideal machine for me and gets the quote from his “guy” at Dell

my Dad gets the thing up and running for me

my Dad finds me a place to buy Microsoft for a fraction of the price (totally legally)

my Dad loads all my software

my Dad then networks things so I can be on my couch, creating killer student assignments, I press print and voile-it prints upstairs

:)    These things make me very happy!  Thanks Dad!

The agony of moving from Gmail to Outlook

25 09 2007

I am blessed to have a new lap-top that runs super fast, has a sharp screen and it just all around fun- I post here so much faster now!

But with all this wonderfulness came a day of switching over from using the Gmail on the web to having Gmail go through Outlook…

I am still not sure about the change since I am so used to the organization of Gmail, but I hate being locked out of all my information if Google is down for a day…

If any of you ever contemplate the change, beware of syncing your accounts beforeyou get rid of the thousands and thousands of emails you have archived on Gmail… :)

How to Give a Man Hug

24 09 2007

Since I have to get back into the practice of generating semi-interesting and original thoughts, I’ll just post a video.

Any lady can appreciate the man-hug ritual and any guy can make sure they are doing it correctly.

I’m Back

24 09 2007

After a few very busy weeks of preparing for and beginning our new school year, things have settled down again.  Moving our classes to our new location has been a tremendous blessing and all seems to be falling into place.  It is positively delightful to not have to remind the kids to “sit up, keep your feet off of him, move away and give her more space, turn your body so you can see the board…”

Now I have new things to say-

No, sorry, but you may not climb into the berry bushes.

Please don’t tip your chair.

Remember-keep the door closed.  The air conditioner is on.  (Yes, how happy am I!! I had no idea until after we made the move that we have air conditioning.) :)

But all of these things are new and I am not tired of saying them…yet.
