A Peek at a Day in the Paleo-Zone

28 08 2009

In addition to doing CrossFit, I have been part of the CF gym’s paleo challenge over the summer.  Eating paleo means we eat meat, vegetables, fruit, and some seeds and nuts.  We eat no dairy, grains, or sugar.  It is of course 100 % gluten-free!  Being able to make this change with so many other supportive people and the guidance of the trainers has made this a rather painless switch.

Last week I decided to try the paleo-zone plan, primarily because I have been feeling so great on paleo that I wanted to try balancing out my foods with the goal of more energy and less snacking (a better hormonal response.)  Eating paleo-zone means your daily food is of both a high quality and a high quantity.

Here is a day in my eating life…

Okay, this half-convinces me to do it. But you need to give me more options that aren’t filled with…tomatoes. Yucky.

YUM! This looks very much like the way my parents are eating, in the zone.
Its basically just balancing carbs with protein, so you never get too many of one, but enough of each!

Good job, Leah!

Krista, I am just eating so many tomatoes because they are delicious this time of year!

Stef, the primary difference between the Zone and the paleo-zone is the food choices. I still don’t eat any grains, legumes or dairy and all of those are typicallly seen on the Zone. But yes, it is all about balance, in order to control your body’s response to the protein, fat and carbs.

Dang this is very gourmet! I am incredibly impressed. You have inspired me to perhaps chronicle a day of my own sometime soon. You are seriously kicking ass Leah. Wouldn’t it be cool to open some sort of mini restaurant offering real food like this? How fun. Keep up the good work Leah!
